Does CBD Show Up On a Drug Test?-Plant People

Do Functional Mushroom Supplements Affect Drug Tests?

This is a common question — particularly for athletes subject to anti-doping testing, employees in industries with workplace drug screening, and people who use supplements that were previously associated with cannabis-derived ingredients.

The short answer: No. Functional mushrooms do not affect standard drug tests.

What Standard Drug Tests Screen For

Most workplace and athletic drug tests screen for specific compounds or their metabolites:

  • THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) — the psychoactive compound in cannabis
  • Cocaine and metabolites
  • Opioids
  • Amphetamines
  • PCP
  • Benzodiazepines (in some panels)

None of the bioactive compounds in functional mushrooms — beta-glucans, triterpenes, hericenones, cordycepin, polysaccharides — are screened for in standard drug panels, and none produce metabolites that cross-react with these screens.

What About Psilocybin?

Plant People's Wonder products contain zero psilocybin. Psilocybin is found exclusively in specific species of fungi (primarily Psilocybe genus). The functional mushrooms in the Wonder line — Lion's Mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Chaga, Maitake, Shiitake, Agaricus — are entirely different species with entirely different bioactive compounds.

Some drug tests do screen for psilocybin. WonderDay and all Wonder products contain none.

Athletic Drug Testing

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) does not prohibit any functional mushroom species used in Plant People products. Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Chaga, and all other Wonder ingredients are permitted substances.

Athletes competing under WADA, NCAA, or professional sports organizations can use all Wonder products without anti-doping concerns.

Third-Party Testing

Every batch of Wonder products is third-party tested. Lab reports are available at plantpeople.co/pages/lab-reports. These reports verify that products contain what the label claims and nothing that isn't disclosed.

The Bottom Line

Functional mushroom supplements from Plant People do not contain THC, psilocybin, or any compound that would appear on a standard drug screening panel. They are fully appropriate for athletes, professionals, and anyone subject to drug testing.
